EKU finishes strong in home opener

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – EKU started off slow in the home opener Thursday night, but the Colonels got things going of both sides of the ball to pull out a 55-14 win over UPike at Roy Kidd Stadium.

With no Maty Mauk or Bennie Coney behind center, trailing 14-7 to the Bears, EKU fired up and started clicking.

Then the Colonels churned in the second half.  Three defensive touchdowns in all and a 31-0 run out of the locker room to end the game.

So, what was said by head coach Mark Elder to the team?  Or, maybe no fire needed to be lit by anyone other than the players themselves?

Hear from Elder in the video.
