UPDATE: Arrest made in deadly Rowan County shooting

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a man has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting Tuesday in Rowan County. Investigators say 59-year old Teddy Johnson, of Morehead, was arrested around 3:00 p.m. and charged with shooting 24-year old Marvin “Jimmy” Adkins, of Emerson.

The Morehead News reports that State Police say Adkins was the boyfriend of Johnson’s daughter.

State Police say they received a report of a domestic dispute Tuesday morning on Brown Ridge Road just outside of Elliottville. The Morehead News reports that when Troopers arrived on the scene, Adkins ran off. State Police told the newspaper that a K-9 was brought in and investigators looked for Adkins for 90-minutes, but couldn’t locate him, so authorities left the scene.

The newspaper reports that authorities were called back to the home around noon for another domestic dispute call. Investigators say upon their second arrival, they found Adkins dead. Reports say he ran about 300-yards after being shot, but then collapsed and died.

State Police say Johnson was arrested about three-hours later and charged with murder. He was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The case is still under investigation by State Police.
