Sheriff: Man bit, choked woman in domestic violence arrest

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel Co. Sheriff says a London man has been charged with assault after attacking a woman Sunday night.

The Sheriff says deputies arrested 51-year-old Van Harville at a home off of West Laurel Road after being called there on a domestic violence complaint.

When they arrived, deputies say they discovered that Harville had been in an argument with a woman that became physical.  According to deputies, Harville bit the woman, and used a choke hold that was strong enough to cause the woman to cut the inside of her mouth with her teeth.

Deputies also discovered Harville had violated an active domestic violence order (DVO) by coming into contact with the woman.

Harville was charged with assault, domestic violence and violation of a DVO.

He was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
