Police: Student Arrested For Bring Loaded Gun On School Grounds

A Whitley County teen was arrested after police say he brought a loaded handgun onto school property.

Police said the 17-year-old drove to Whitley County High School Thursday afternoon to confront his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend. According to police, he told her he was going to kill himself because they had broken up. That’s when police say he showed her the gun in the school’s parking lot.

Police said the teen then left the school and drove to the girl’s apartment, where he also threatened to kill himself if she didn’t come down and talk to him. The girl called before she went down to speak with him. When police arrived on scene they said the boy was seen out of the car with the gun pointing at his head. Police were able to stop him, and took him into custody. They also found a note that he had written. The boy was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a fire arm on school property, harassing communications and harassment.
