Armed robbery suspect due in court Monday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Police say they caught a third suspect involved in an armed robbery with the help of another suspect.

The robbery happened at the Shell Gas station on South Broadway last month.

Police say Quantaveon Leavell, 18, is charged with first degree robbery.

Court documents say on July 24th Leavell and a juvenile walked into the store, armed, wearing masks and demanded cash.

While officers responded to the call they say they spotted three men  inside of a maroon-colored car on Burley Avenue. Two matched the description of the robbery suspects.

Police say they attempted to stop the suspects, but they sped off and ended up crashing  into a fence at the Picadome Golf Course. The suspects got out of the car and ran away.

Officers caught up with two of the suspects who are juveniles.

Investigators say they found evidence of the robbery inside of the car — including cash and say one of the juveniles who robbed the store was still armed.

The juveniles are being charged in this case.

Leveall is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
