Flood Watch in Franklin Co.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Heavy rains in Central Kentucky have prompted several flood watches and warnings in many counties, including Franklin Co.

The National Weather Service anticipates several inches of rainfall in the state capitol, where several low-lying areas are prone to flooding.

Franklin Co. Sheriff Pat Melton says homeowners should take precautions, and leave the area if at any point they feel unsafe.  The Sheriff says there have not been high winds that could knock down trees or wires, but if anything like that should happen residents should contact emergency crews for help.

The Flash Flood Warning will continue throughout the day.  For any updates about road closures, you can call 611.
