Man accused in Mulberry Dr. fire to appear in court Monday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man accused of setting fire to a home in Lexington will appear in front of a judge Monday.

The fire broke out at the home on Mulberry Drive on Friday night at around 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police they saw a man running with a gas can after smelling smoke.

The same home burned a few months ago, and was boarded up.

According to a Battalion Chief, the home was scheduled to be demolished on Monday.

Police took 34-year-old Jimmie Maxey, Jr. into custody a little over an hour after the fire.

He is charged  with arson.
