Bourbon County Man Suspected Of Hatchet Attack Released
The man accused of fatally hitting another man in the head with a hatchet has been released from jail.
The Bourbon County clerk said Daniel Carter, 25, pleaded guilty to fleeing and evading police and resisting arrest.
The clerk said the judge gave Carter a 135-day prison sentence with credit, and said he’d already served his time.
Officials said Carter was then released.
Police said Carter hit Christopher Mitchell in the head with a hatchet during a fight in July.
Mitchell later died at UK Hospital, according to the Fayette County coroner.
However, Kentucky State Police said Friday that the investigation is ongoing, and declined to comment.
