Dr. Rice Leach Goes To The ‘Hot Seat For Hope’
One Lexington charity is looking to laughter to help raise money.
Kentucky Pink Connection hosted an event called "Hot Seat for Hope" Saturday.
The main event was a roast of Dr. Rice Leach, the commissioner of public health at the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.
He says a little public mockery is welcome if it means helping a cause he cares about.
"Cancer is kind of an important thing to me," he said. "I had melanoma with I was an intern in 1966, I had lymphoma last year, I had a daughter that died of breast cancer five years ago, so I have a strong attachment to trying to make things better for patients and their families."
Kentucky Pink Connection helps breast cancer patients by offering personal help eliminating barriers in the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
