Richmond PD: Infant was in car during drive-by shooting

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Richmond have arrested 18-year-old Jimmy R. Skinner on charges of attempted murder and wanton endangerment.   The arrest happened about 3:20 a.m. on Monday.

Officers say that at about 11:20 p.m. on Sunday they responded to a report of shots being fired on Turpin Drive.  When they arrived, they say they found Sammy Isaacs with a single gunshot wound in his back.

According to police, the victim was able to communicate to them that a vehicle had fired 5 to 6 shots at him.  Police say the car was driven by Skinner’s girlfriend, while Skinner fired the shots as he was hanging out of the vehicle. Officers say an infant was in the car, along with another person when the shooting occurred.

Investigators say the victim named Skinner as the shooter, and told police that Skinner was possibly on North Madison Avenue.

Officers found the vehicle on North Madison, and detained two suspects who were in the car.  Skinner came out of an apartment after police called him out.  Investigators say Skinner waived his Miranda rights, and admitted to the shooting.
