UPDATE: Subject in standoff in custody, situation resolved safely
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Lexington have issued a report following a barricade situation Thursday morning that ended safely with the subject exiting the home he was in after several hours of negotiation.
35-year-old Ryan Karmark was taken into custody shortly before 10:00 a.m., charged with 4 counts of wanton endangerment.
Officers say they responded to reports of shots fired inside a home in the 1900 block of Deauville Drive at around 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning. When they arrived, police say they saw Karmark outside the home, and witnessed him fire a shot into the street. Investigators say they identified themselves as officers, at which point they say Karmark fired a shot at them before running back into the house.
No officers were injured in the shooting, and police say they did not return fire.
Shortly thereafter, investigators say they learned a woman and two young children were in the home. Officers were able to contact Karmark inside, and convinced him to let the woman and one child leave. At 6:45 a.m., officers say they were able to enter the home and get the second child, whom family members said had a medical condition, who was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Nearby homes were evacuated over the course of the standoff.
No injuries were reported.
Officers say Kamark may face additional charges as the investigation continues.

Lexington Police say the subject in a standoff on Deauville Drive has exited the home without incident.
According to officers, Ryan Kamark surrendered after a tense 10-hour standoff.
The standoff began around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, when a man fired shots at officers and then barricaded himself in his home.
Two children and the man’s wife were in the home, but all three were eventually released safely.
ABC 36 is awaiting additional information from Lexington Police, and will update this story as those details become available.

Lexington Police say the second child in a standoff on Deauville Drive has exited the home safely.
The standoff has been going on for nearly nine hours now.

Police say a man fired at officers in a Lexington neighborhood early Thursday morning, leading to a standoff.
It began just before 12:30 a.m. with a call about a disorder with a weapon.
Police say when officers showed up, they spotted a man outside the home with a gun.
They say they identified themselves as officers, told him to put the gun down, and that’s when they say he shot at the officers.
None of the officers were hit.
He then ran toward the back of the home.
Police say they thought he ran off, but K-9 units only tracked him behind the house, indicating he ran inside.
Police called the home and say the suspect answered.
They were able to convince him to release his wife and one of the children in the home out.
They say there is another child inside the home with him. Because of that, an emergency response team with a hostage negotiator was called in.
The homes to the right and the left of the suspect’s home have been evacuated.
Everyone else on the street has been told to shelter in place.
