Celebrating 50 years of service

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hundreds of home games and plenty of road trips.  The three 50-year members left with us of the blue coat Committee of 101ers have plenty of stories to share.

Gene Oakley, Rex Payne and David Trosper could entertain anyone for hours talking about their half century of service as ushers for UK football and basketball games.

The group was originally mainly comprised of mainly IBM employees and took over for the Boy Scouts back in 1966.

Now, there’s 340 members from a variety of backgrounds, with one thing in common.  They love what they do…just as much as Gene, Rex and David have and will continue to.

But back when it all started, no one knew it would last this long.  Just ask Trosper about that.

Now that it has, how much longer does the trio have?

Check out the video for more.
