Some city computer services shut down, cause investigated
City unsure whether system was hacked
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington has had to shut down services Friday afternoon that are involved with the internet except for its main web page, lexingtonky.gov, and its email because of external interference in its servers.
Emergency services to citizens, including E-911, fire service and police response, are not affected. LexCall is not affected. Citizens will not be able to pay bills on line, pay for parks programs or access on-line development services. Other services may affected.
City officials said they weren’t sure whether the system was hacked or what caused the interference or disruption.
“We’re investigating. We don’t know,” said Susan Straub, the spokesperson for the administration.
