New details in deputy-involved shooting & arrest

­BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say prior to this deputy-involved shooting the suspect, Daniel Pigg had an extensive history with police.

Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy, Kevin Crutcher was on his way to Pigg’s home to investigate a complaint about drug activity Wednesday.

According to Troopers, Deputy Crutcher recognized Pigg as he was driving a truck along with a passenger and attempted to stop them.

Troopers say Pigg kept going until he stopped in his own driveway and began walking towards his home.

The passenger ran off and Pigg ignored Deputy Crutcher’s commands to stop.

Pigg then pulled out his handgun and began shooting at the Deputy; hitting him in the abdomen.

The deputy returned fire and Pigg was killed.

Deputy Crutcher is on administrative leave and is expected to make a full recovery.

Troopers say they later caught up with the passenger , 48 year old Joseph Curtis. Curtis was arrested and is charged with fleeing and evading police.
