KSP: Convicted felon arrested after shooting
LIVERMORE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a convicted felon in McLean County was arrested following a shooting, but not for reportedly pulling the trigger. Investigators say 33-year old James ‘Chicken’ Smith, of Livermore, may have acted in self-defense, but he was arrested for having a gun.
The man Smith’s accused of shooting, 29-year old Kory Tyler, of Island, suffered life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, according to KSP.
Investigators say it all began when State Police received a call about a shooting at a home on Mulberry Street in Livermore around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
State Police say Smith was grilling outside when Tyler, an acquaintance, drove by and stopped in the street. Reportedly, the two men got into an argument that turned physical. Investigators say Smith went into his house, and Tyler followed. Another fight broke out inside during which Smith pulled a gun and shot Tyler in the head, according to State Police.
The investigation is ongoing.
