UPDATE: Berea standoff ends peacefully
BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a barricade situation in Berea has been resolved peacefully.
Troopers say 51-year-old Gene Charlton was holding his wife and their two children in a home and would not come out.
According to investigators, KSP special unit negotiators were able to talk him out of the home around 9:15 a.m. and take him into custody.
Officers say a taser was used once Charlton had emerged from the home.
Police say Charlton will be charged with kidnapping, with additional charges pending.
Charlton’s wife and two children were uninjured, according to officers, and are being interviewed.
Charlton has been taken to the Madison Co. Detention Center.

A neighborhood in Berea has been evacuated because of a barricade situation, according to Kentucky State Police.
They say it started just after 12 a.m. Wednesday when someone called Berea police about a suspicious situation at a home off East Haiti Road.
State police say a man is not letting a woman and two children out of the home, but stopped short of calling it a hostage situation.
Police say he is armed.
They have negotiators at the scene, trying to talk him out.
