Lexington’s Annex Garage To Close In November For Repairs

The closure will allow restoration work to continue at a faster pace to expedite re-opening. 

Construction began in August on the $3.1 million restoration to the garage, built in the mid to late 1960s.

Citizens can find alternative parking in:

§         –Transit Center Garage, enter at 170 East Vine St. or 129-201 East High St.

§         –Courthouse Garage, enter at 105 Barr Street

§         –On-street spaces

“We know this construction will be inconvenient, but it’s worth it to make this facility safer and extend its life,” said Parking Authority Board Chair James H. Frazier III, Managing Partner at McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland, PLLC.

The restoration involves needed safety repairs, including waterproofing, lighting updates, and a new entry/exit system, said Gary Means, Parking Authority Executive Director. “We look forward to re-opening a safe and secure parking facility as soon as possible.”

The Fayette County Clerk will remain open during the renovation and visitors can park in the alternative locations listed above.
