Bill Clinton Surprises Guests at Lexington’s Thursday Night Live
It’s not everyday you see Bill Clinton rocking out to Fleetwood Mac in the Lexington 5/3 Bank Pavilion.
Lexington democrat Randy Morton says, “He’s actually a lot shorter. I pictured him being taller.”
It was welcome surprise for even republicans like Bill Gibson, owner of the local Salsarita’s.
Gibson says, “I thought it was great for him to come down and mingle and obviously he’s one of the favorite president’s of the country. i thought it was really nice that he came up out of his way to shake our hand.”
Earlier President Clinton made a case for his wife in front of a few hundred people in Frankfort, touting her commitment to the working class and her campaign to break down barriers.
Clinton says, “We’ve got to make sure we raise middle class income, restore upward mobility, and take every area of America and every person along for the ride in the future we can’t leave any body behind”
Clinton emphasized that even though his wife has just about locked up the Democratic nomination the presidential race is not over. Kentuckians still have to go out and vote.
The former President says, “If you want to win in November we got to show up and have the votes count. We’ve got to keep the momentum going. We’ve got to put the wind in her back. She loves Kentucky.”
Bill Clinton even drawing in people from out of state and on the other side to hear him out.
Republican Tyler Knierim from Indiana says he came out “Because the decisions that these people make affect you daily. I mean everything, from driving on the road to anything you do during the course of your day is affected by the decisions that these people make.”
It’s a welcome surprise stop for many in Lexington today, but will it be enough to sway voters on Tuesday?
Morton says, “I actually don’t know. I’ve been following it from the beginning and I’m indecisive at the moment. That was a good moment, but I can’t say I’m going to vote for anybody at the moment.”
