Kloiber joins race for Lexington mayor
Files paperwork to start fund raising.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – First-term Sixth District Urban County Council member David Kloiber has filed election finance paperwork to run for mayor in next year’s election.
Incumbent Mayor Linda Gorton already has qualified to seek another term.
Filing with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance allows Kloiber to start raising money for his mayoral campaign.
City elections are non-partisan. The qualifying deadline is Jan. 7, 2022.
Kloiber was elected to the Urban County Council in November 2020. He is a graduate of Lexington Catholic High School and the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of liberal studies.
He’s president of the Kloiber Foundation, which works to create opportunities for children. He is married with two children.
