Hillary Clinton campaigns in Ashland ahead of Ky. primary
ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ)- In a part of the country where coal and steel fuel economic markets and jobs are being lost at alarming rates, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton looks to win over voters.
Clinton fielded questions from workers at a local steel company before addressing the issue coal with the audience at Alma’s Italian, a small restaurant in Ashland.
Both supporters and protesters gathered at the event which saw popular Kentucky Secretary of State, Alison Lundergan-Grimes.
Afterward, Clinton stopped to visit local Girl Scouts before leaving for stops in West Virginia where she’s expected to meet with mining families. The Ashland stop kicks off Clinton’s “Breaking Down Barriers” Tour which will end in Athens, Ohio.
