Firefighters investigating after fire at Lexington apartment
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Fire Department is on the scene of a fire they say broke out in an apartment at the Patchen Place Apartments on Patchen Drive.
Firefighters say the flames began in the front room of the first-floor apartment around 12:00 p.m.
The occupant of the apartment was at work at the time. A house cat died in the fire, despite efforts of firefighters to revive the animal.
Firefighters say they were able to knock the flames down pretty quickly, and say that while surrounding apartments had smoke in them, they were otherwise undamaged and livable.
The occupant of the apartment where the fire started, however, will have to find a place to stay.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
