One dead after accident on Mason Headley

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say one person has died after an accident on Mason Headley Road about 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Officers say a white pickup truck heading towards Versailles Road crossed over the double line and hit a black Saturn SUV head-on.

The driver of the Saturn, John Kenton Fairchild, died after being taken to UK Hospital, according to the Fayette Co. Coroner.  No word on the condition of the driver of the truck, other than he is expected to recover.  There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Officers say they do not suspect any impairment on the part of either driver.

The accident shut down the roadway for a few hours as reconstruction crews worked the scene.  The road is now reopened.
