UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal New Circle Rd. crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette Co. Coroner has identified the victim in a fatal collision on New Circle Road that happened on Monday.

The coroner says he is 35-year-old James Smallwood of Georgetown.  The coroner says Smallwood died of multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.  Smallwood was riding in the front passenger seat, according to the coroner.

Police say a car hit an excavator at Leestown and New Circle Roads.

Officers say a Camry somehow lost control and hit the excavator.

The collision shut down the road for about two hours.

No word on the condition of a second victim in the crash who was sent to the hospital.
