Sheriff: Lily man arrested after abusing father

LILY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel Co. Sheriff says a Lily man has been arrested on multiple charges, after being abusive to his father.

Investigators say they received a call about 7:40 p.m. saying that a man wouldn’t let his elderly father go to the hospital.  When deputies arrived at the home off Dogwood Lane, they say they found 49-year-old Randy Stewart very intoxicated and making threats against his father. Deputies say they later learned that Stewart had reportedly pushed his father down.

Stewart admitted that he had “taken a bunch of pills and drank a fifth of liquor,” according to investigators.  Furthermore, deputies say Stewart created a scene, yelling and cursing at EMS and neighbors.

Once arrested, investigators say Stewart grew increasingly irate, and began hitting the windows of the cruiser in an attempt to get out.

Stewart was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center and charged with assault, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and resisting arrest.
