U.S. Marshals, LPD arrest fugitive in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A combined operation of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Lexington Police Department resulted in the arrest of a fugitive wanted on a variety of charges, including trafficking narcotics and attempted murder of a police officer, in Lexington late last week.
David “Drummer Dave” Suarez, 38, was arrested on Thursday, March 24.
Based on information gathered by the Lexington Police Intelligence Unit, officers were able to locate Suarez and take him into custody without incident during a traffic stop on Man O’ War Boulevard near Clearwater Way. Heroin, methamphetamine, a large amount of cash and a loaded handgun were found in Suarez’s possession.
The Lexington Police Department’s search for Suarez stemmed from an investigation that started in December 2015, when a search warrant was executed at his residence. Officers located methamphetamine, heroin, pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Based on the evidence found during the traffic stop and at his residence, Suarez is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of handgun by a convicted felon.
Officers with the U.S. Marshals Task Force served Suarez with a warrant out of Jessamine County for parole violation and warrants out of Garrard County for attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, leaving the scene of an accident, trafficking in a controlled substance, wanton endangerment and burglary.
Suarez was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center.
