Archbishop Ambassador who arranged Davis/Pope meeting being replaced

VATICAN CITY (WHAS 11)–The Vatican is replacing its Archbishop Ambassador to the United States who arranged the meeting between Pope Francis and Rowan County clerk Kim Davis.

Italian Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano will leave the position and be replaced by Archbishop Christophe Pierrewhi is  a French born clergyman.

In Fall 2015,  Vigano used his home as a meeting place for Pope Francis and Kim Davis who refused to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples despite the Supreme Court ruling.

After the meeting the Vatican said the meeting didn’t mean Pope Francis supported Davis.
