KSP: Driver takes off during traffic stop to avoid arrest
CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police in Corbin say two people drove off from a traffic stop in an attempt to avoid arrest.
Troopers say the stop happened just after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, after an officer saw a 2002 Chevrolet driving erratically. According to investigators, three people were in the car, and it was discovered that the two passengers, Derrick Partin and Tyler Ramey had active warrants on them. Partin was taken into custody, but when a Trooper asked Ramey to exit the car, Ramey reportedly refused, saying he didn’t want to go to jail. That’s when Police say the driver, Brandi Calloway, sped off on KY 6.
Officers say there was a short car pursuit before Calloway drove the car into a ditch.
Ramey and Calloway were arrested and taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
