Lexington Pride Festival postponed until 2022
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Pride Festival organizers announced on Facebook Friday night that this month’s festival is being postponed until late June 2022 due to the surging coronavirus.
Organizers said they hoped they could implement protocols other large festivals have successfully used to keep their events safe in recent months. In moving forward to implement those protocols, they found it wouldn’t be possible in the festival’s location in the Courthouse Plaza. They said they considered moving the event to another location, but couldn’t find an appropriate space so close to the event.
In the social media post, organizers said with the rising number of new COVID-19 cases and the inability to guarantee a safe environment for all festival attendees, they felt there was no other choice than to cancel this month’s festival scheduled for Sept. 25, 2021.
