Recovery group provides NaloxBox boxes to business across region
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Voices of Hope is a non-profit recovery community center that helps people in recovery stay in recovery.
The group is partnering with the Louisville Recovery Community Center to sponsor a campaign to distribute NaloxBoxes to businesses in Lexington and Louisville and surrounding communities.
“For a business, having a NaloxBox is similar in concept to having an AED on the wall. It’s a heavy-duty box mounted to the wall that contains doses of naloxone. These boxes provide the tools necessary to empower community members to respond to an opioid overdose,” said Program Director Amanda Fallin-Bennett, PhD, RN.
“We are taking part in this initiative to distribute NaloxBoxes to area businesses because we know the opioid epidemic is a public health crisis. Kentucky is one of the hardest hit states in our country. We are dedicated to educating the community, dispelling stigma, and ultimately saving lives,” added Louisville Recovery Community Connection Director Jeremy Byard.
NaloxBoxes were ordered for the following partner organizations:
Big Blue Vapor Shop, Nicholasville
Boone’s Store, Louisville
Catalina Motel, Lexington
Central Kentucky Recovery, Cynthiana
Diva’s Gentlemen’s Club, Lexington
Ethan Health, Richmond
Louisville Health and Healing, Louisville
Miracle Bubbles Laundromat, Lexington
New Leaf Clinic, Louisville
Pocket Change by Change Today, Change Tomorrow
Recovery Café, Lexington
Roots 101: African American Museum, Louisville
