More than 3,200 new COVID cases as positivity nears 12.5%
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The numbers show no signs of slowing their rapid climb.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced 3,276 newly reported cases Tuesday of #COVID19 and a positivity rate that has increased to 12.47% from 12.4% Monday.
The governor also announced 2,425,305 Kentuckians vaccinated.
Of the new cases, 849 are in people 18 and under.
The daily report showed the new cases pushed the state’s total since March 2020 to 522,209.
The state also reported eight new deaths, pushing the total lost to virus-related causes to 7,459.
In less than a week, the state’s positivity rate has risen from than a percentage point to 12.47% from 12.4% Monday, 11.83% Friday, 11.57% Thursday, 11.22% Wednesday and 11.05% Tuesday.
The hospitalizations and related numbers also continue a rapid climb, with1,603 people in the hospital Tuesday, up from 1,528 Monday, 1,424 reported Friday, 1,371 people Thursday, 1,327 Wednesday, and 1,251 last Tuesday.
In addition, 441 people are in ICU, up from 429 people Monday, 391 people Friday, 357 Thursday, 363 Wednesday, 339 last Tuesday, and 331 last Monday. Meanwhile, 238 people are on a ventilator, up from 224 Monday, 185 Friday, 169 Thursday and Wednesday, and 168 last Tuesday.
