Jazz on the Lawn canceled out of caution
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Henry Clay Memorial Foundation has canceled the upcoming Jazz on the Lawn.
The annual community event at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, usually hosts around 1,000 to 1,500 people and was scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 5.
With COVID cases surging, the cancellation comes out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all involved with the event.
“We are not in the position of enforcing a requirement that attendees wear masks to Jazz on the Lawn, and we want to avoid creating a situation that might cause people to think differently about Ashland or about this fun, casual, family event,” Executive Director Jim Clark remarked. “We all look forward to a time when we can enjoy Jazz on the Lawn again, but are convinced it is not prudent to host an event of this size at this time.”
