UPDATE: Route reopened as bridge work continues on U.S. 68 in Boyle County

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – US 68/150 is now fully open to traffic as operations continue for the new bridge over the Chaplin River.

Crews completed beam setting Tuesday afternoon. Six new beams were brought in by six separate trucks. The 33 foot beams were unloaded and installed on the bridge within one day.

Wide load trucks should still utilize the posted alternate detours to avoid the reduced lane width caused by the construction site.

BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of potential traffic delays on Highway 68 in Perryville in Boyle County.

Operations are progressing for the new bridge over the Chaplin River on US 68/150 in Perryville. The project began Monday, June 7, and has an anticipated completion date of Thursday, October 14.

Beam setting is scheduled for Tuesday morning, July 6. The six new beams will be delivered by six separate trucks. Each 33-foot beam will be unloaded on the bridge within one day. It will be necessary for the beams to be placed on the bridge due to space limitations within the work zone.

All work, and closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies, and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
