Bridge project to slow traffic on US 421 in Clay County

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Starting Monday, June 21, a bridge repair project will begin over Island Creek on US 421 (mile point 21.210) in Clay County.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 11 Office, the project will replace the beams, bridge deck, guardrail and widen the current structure.

The project will reduce US 421 to a single 10-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. Wide loads should take an alternate route, such as Hal Rogers Parkway and KY 30.

Both lanes are expected to reopen Friday, August 20.
