Ben Kleppinger named editor at Advocate-Messenger
DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) – The Advocate-Messenger reports that Ben Kleppinger has been named editor at the central Kentucky newspaper.
Kleppinger began his journalism career as a beat reporter at The Advocate-Messenger (bit.ly/1S6S786) in Danville in 2009 after graduating from Eastern Kentucky University. In 2012, he was named editor at The Interior Journal in Stanford and in 2015 he took over as managing editor of the Jessamine Journal.
Bluegrass Media Group Publisher Larry Hensley said Kleppinger has brought “a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the newsroom” during each move.
Kleppinger has won numerous awards for open-records and investigative stories, photography and design. He says he is excited about his new position.
Former editor John Nelson, who led the newsroom for nearly 20 years, announced his retirement earlier this month.
