KSP: Tip led to marijuana grow operation bust

MAYFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say an anonymous tip from the Kentucky State Police Text-a-Tip Program led to the bust of a marijuana grow operation in Mayfield.

Investigators say a search warrant was used to search a home on Ridgeland Drive. They say they seized five marijuana plants, six long guns, two pistols, two silencers, eight storage boxes of ammunition, a tactical vest, and several items used to cultivate marijuana. State police say two marijuana plants were also found in a trash can behind the home.

Troopers say 35-year-old Tyler M. Smoyer of Mayfield and 32-year-old Victoria L. Shaw Smoyer of Mayfield are charged with Cultivating Marijuana – 5 plants or more, Firearm Enhanced (Class C Felony), Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).
