LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ/WHAS) – Officials at Louisville International Airport are confirming that their security checkpoint has been closed since around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The closure comes after TSA reportedly found an “item” in a carry-on bag at the security checkpoint that they say required further review.
TSA is currently working with law enforcement partners to clear the item in question. The Lousville Metro Police Department bomb squad is assisting at the scene, along with several other police departments.
Passengers are being confined to the check-in area.
Several flights have been delayed as officials investigate the package.
Airport officials did not say when the checkpoint would reopen, but would be closed until the review is finished.
A press conference will be held at 10:45 a.m. to update the situation.
