Danville, Centre College Deal With Aftermath Of VP Debate

Centre College representatives say around 80 maintenance workers will be tearing down what was up for debate festivities throughout the weekend.

However, VP Debate Co-Chair Clarence Wyatt said that it was all worth it.

"It so much is like the day after Christmas–you’ve opened all the presents, and you gotta clean up all the wrapping paper now," he said.

And businesses in Danville agreed–having the international occurrence in their city was worth it.

Stores that sold debate-themed items saw a lot of it go with the masses.

Maple Tree Gallery, which sold political soaps in a ‘soap poll’, saw all its republican bars out with buyers.

Thoroughbred Threads, a clothing business that had the market on ‘Centre Debate 2012’ merchandise, sold over a thousand different t-shirts, polos, and caps.

But, even though store owners say they were happy to have an international event in their town, they admitted they’re happy things will go back to normal.

"I’m anxious to see some of my regular customers and…and get back more into the flow of things," said Karamel Kreations owner Beth King.
