LFD: 5 arsons in the past 24 hours
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — According to the Lexington Fire Department, there have been five arsons in the last 24 hours. Authorities say four of the five are suspected to be related.
The only building still standing on the site of the former Continental Inn caught fire Thursday night, just before 10:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly put the fire out, and investigators say mattresses in the building suggested that homeless citizens were living there. While investigators say no one was inside at the time of the fire, arson is suspected.
Three fires were started on Jennifer Road, both inside and outside in the same time span.
A home on Versailles road was also set aflame in the past day, though the fire department says they do not currently think it is related to the other four fires.
The Lexington Fire Department is asking for any information related to these fires – If you know anything, please call the arson hotline at 231-5672.
