Historic Louisville-made steam engine escorted to Corbin

CORBIN CO. Ky, (WTVQ) — On January 18th, KSP Officers helped to welcome home a historic steam engine to its final resting place in Corbin.

According to State Police, L&N 2132 is the last of 400 steam locomotives built in the south Louisville shop. It was sold to a Florida Power Plant in Florida in 1951, and was later put on display in Bainbridge, Georgia for nearly thirty-six years.

KSP Vehicle Enforcement said they were honored to give this prestigious steam engine a hero’s welcome, leading the over-sized engine through Bell, Knox, and Whiteley counties to its final home in Corbin, Kentucky.

It will be placed on display at the Corbin Tourism and Commission Conventions rail road museum.
