University of Kentucky bans hoverboards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – University of Kentucky students are being told to leave their hoverboards at home.

The university says no one can use, possess or store hoverboards on all properties owned by the university.

UK said in a news release Wednesday the ban includes residence halls, university apartments, Greek houses, academic buildings and all other campus buildings and grounds.

It also includes off-campus properties that the university controls.

Several other schools have implemented similar bans.

The university says the ban will remain in effect until more information is available and better safety standards are in place.

The university says it will provide temporary storage for students who can’t get hoverboards home safely.
