Sheriff: Man returned lost wallet, minus the cash

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies have charged a man who they say returned a lost wallet, minus the cash. The sheriff’s office says a woman said her wallet was stolen outside of the Walmart near Corbin.

According to the Laurel Co. Sheriff, a man who found the wallet in the parking lot took almost $200 out of the wallet, and then turned it into the customer service desk at the Walmart.  Deputies were able to get a photo of the man from the store’s surveillance system.  Investigators later found the man, 59-year-old Kevin Kennedy off Engineer Street in Corbin on Saturday.

Deputies say Kennedy admitted to taking the money.  Deputies say they were able to recover $140, but say Kennedy told them he had spent the rest.

Kennedy was arrested and taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
