Lafayette student-artist wins Best in Show 3D, other students also honored
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Colton Simmons of Lafayette High School won the Best in Show 3D award at the Kentucky Art Eduaction Association’s 2021 all-state art competition.
Simmons won for his wood sculpture titled “Horn.”
Victoria Lamarche from Leestown took first place in the Digital category with her piece “A New Purpose.”
Two other Fayette County students earned honorable mentions: Lafayette’s Taylor Horsfall in Mixed Media for “Queen Bee” and Henry Clay High School’s Isabelle Swisher in Printmaking for “Women in the Breeze.”
The judges considered originality, artistic vision, skill, technique, and presentation.
