New Fayette COVID cases see bump, vaccinations available this week
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic 1-5 p.m. April 29 at Southeast Lexington Center, 3712 Arbor Court.
Appointments can be made at www.lfchd.org/vaccine, and walk-ins will be accepted!
The health department will use the one-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine for the first time since federal health officials approved it for use again.
Meanwhile, first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine have been made available for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road.
The vaccine is free and available for ages 18 and older. Walk-ins are accepted, and appointments can be made at https://tiny.lfchd.org/l?eventKey=AC7164C399ECD46B7ACCBA98814CB690.
Meanwhile, Fayette County’s new COVID cases jumped Sunday and Monday.
During its daily report Tuesday morning, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported 75 new cases for Sunday and Monday, bringing the total number of cases since March 2020 to 34,425.
The 7-day rolling average is 40 cases per day.
The department reported no new confirmed COVID-related deaths, leaving the county’s total at 304.
