Fayette County COVID deaths top 300 threshold

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – More than 300 Lexington residents have now died from COVID-19.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported three new deaths Monday, including one from December, bringing the total to 302 since the outbreak began in March 2020.

Lexington also had 57 — Sunday and Monday combined — new COVID-19 cases, with a 7-day rolling average of 38, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Tuesday.

The city has had 34,144 total cases during the outbreak.

To protect friends, family and yourself, get a COVID-19 vaccination. Several appointments remain for the Health Departments vaccination clinic 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 21 at Consolidated Baptist Church.

Make an appointment at lfchd.org/vaccine or call 859-899-2222 for help. Walk-ins will not be accepted. The department provides the Moderna vaccine, which is for ages 18 and older.

To keep cases from increasing, continue to follow these guidelines:
• Wear a cloth face-covering in public
• Avoid close contact with others
• Wash your hands often
• Stay home if you are sick
• Get vaccinated when you have the opportunity.
