Juvenile charged in middle school bomb threats

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a juvenile was charged in connection to bomb threats at South Hopkins Middle School on Friday, December 11 and Wednesday, December 16.

The juvenile, whose name wasn’t released because of age, was charged with two counts of Complicity to Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree (Class D Felony), according to KSP. The child was cited and released to the custody of a parent.

Investigators say in the first bomb threat on December 11, the juvenile called the school and said there was a bomb inside the school. School administrators immediately began evacuating the school and called law enforcement.

A KSP Special Operations Branch K-9 responded and assisted law enforcement officials with a search of the school. Nothing was found, according to KSP.

Investigators say an identical series of events happened just five days later on December 16.
