Several injured in crash that closed stretch of I-64

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several people were injured in a crash involving two cars and a semi that temporarily closed a stretch of eastbound I-64 in Franklin County on Tuesday afternoon, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say the accident happened around mile marker 59 shortly after 5:30 p.m.

KSP says one person was airlifted from the accident scene.

That section of the interstate was closed for about four-and-a-half hours. A detour was in place, but the closure snarled traffic.

Accident reconstruction specialists from KSP are investigating to determine how and why the accident happened.
