Massachusetts man killed in I-75 crash, speed a factor: Deputies

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Scott County investigators say speed and not wearing a seat belt were factors in the death of a Massachusetts man in a traffic accident Thursday.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Andre Ribeirinha Braga, of Melrose, Mass., was killed when the 2012 Chrysler 200 he was driving northbound on I-75 left the left shoulder and crashed into a bridge pylon at the Frogtown Road overpass.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Braga who not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, according to Scott County investigators, who said speed also was a factor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner John Goble.

The crash is still under investigation by by the Georgetown Scott County crash unit. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Scott County Fire Department and the Scott County Coroner’s office.
