UPDATE: 17-year-old latest homicide victim, another man shot as well

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police responded to the 700 block of Florence Avenue around 6:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired.
Officers located a 17-year-old, identified by Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn as Markel Allen, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and succumbed to his injuries.
Around the same time a 19-year-old man arrived at another local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. After further investigation, detectives determined the incidents to be related.
The area is west of Georgetown Pike south of New Circle Road in North Lexington.
Police continue to investigate this case.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 17-year-old has become Lexington’s latest homicide victim.
Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn identified the teen as Markel Allen. He died at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he’d been taken after a shooting in the area of 760 Florence Ave., Ginn said in a statement.
Allen was a student at Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Fayette County.
