2 dead after wreck on Versailles Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette Co. Coroner has confirmed that two people have died after a wreck on Versailles Road in Lexington on Wednesday.

According to the coroner, the victims are Joseph and Cynthia Beemer.  The coroner says the married couple died as a result of blunt force injuries caused in the accident.  Another person injured in the wreck was taken to the hospital with what are described as “serious” injuries.

Officers say the accident happened when the grey pickup truck the couple was driving was hit head-on by a red pickup truck that had crossed the median.  A crash reconstruction unit is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident, including determining if impaired or distracted driving may have been contributing factors.

Versailles Road was closed for hours after the collision, but has since re-opened.
