Thousands say goodbye to fallen Richmond Police Officer

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- Thousands of people filled EKU Alumni Coliseum in Richmond this morning to say goodbye to a fallen police officer.

The funeral service for Daniel Ellis lasted about an hour. Law enforcement from across Kentucky, and the nation, were there to honor Ellis.

Ellis and his wife Katie both attended EKU. Ellis was a seven-year veteran of the Richmond Police Department.

Police say he was shot last week during a robbery investigation at an apartment complex.

Ellis will be laid to rest in Adair County.
